Azospirillum brasilense

Azospirillum brasilense is a root-associated, nitrogen-fixing bacterium widely studied for use in microbial inoculants and biofertilizer formulations. Selected strains have been investigated for biological nitrogen fixation, root development, nutrient uptake and nitrogen-use efficiency, particularly in maize, wheat and other cereal crops. IndoGulf BioAg supplies Azospirillum brasilense in concentrated microbial formats for agricultural formulation, bulk supply and private-label development.

Strength

1 x 10⁸ CFU per gram / 1 x 10⁹ CFU per gram / 1 x 10¹⁰ CFU per gram

Benefits

Enhances nutrient uptake and soil health

Improves root system's ability to absorb phosphorus, potassium, and micronutrients, promoting overall soil health.

Promotes root growth and development

Stimulates lateral and deep root growth, enhancing nutrient and water uptake efficiency in plants.

Increases drought tolerance and stress resistance

Enhances plant resilience to drought conditions and environmental stresses, improving crop yield stability.

Improves plant growth by nitrogen fixation

Fixes atmospheric nitrogen, reducing the need for nitrogen fertilizers and enhancing soil fertility.

Dosage & Application

Dosage and Application

Application rates depend on the viable-cell concentration, formulation, crop and delivery method. The 108 and 109 CFU/g products should not be applied at the same weight-based rate.

Application method

1×10^8 CFU/g

1×10^9 CFU/g

Directions

Seed treatment

10 g/kg seed

1 g/kg seed

Prepare a slurry with clean, non-chlorinated water. Coat seeds uniformly, dry in shade and sow promptly.

Large seed lots

500 g/50 kg seed

50 g/50 kg seed

Apply as a uniform seed coating immediately before planting.

Seedling root dip

100 g/50 L water

10 g/50 L water

Immerse the active root zone for 20–30 minutes and transplant promptly.

Transplant root-zone drench

1 g/L water

0.1 g/L water

Apply enough suspension to wet the active root zone after transplanting.

In-furrow application

500 g/ha

50 g/ha

Dilute in sufficient water for uniform placement in or near the seed furrow.

Drip irrigation or fertigation

500 g/ha

50 g/ha

Premix thoroughly, add to the irrigation tank and apply to the active root zone.

Soil application with carrier

1 kg/ha

100 g/ha

Mix with a suitable dry carrier or well-decomposed organic material and distribute near the root zone.

Mixing instructions

Prepare a premix of the required quantity in a small volume of clean water. Stir until uniformly dispersed, then add the premix to the application tank while maintaining agitation. Apply the suspension on the same day and do not store it after dilution.

Application considerations

  • Apply to seeds, the seed furrow or the active root zone.

  • Use clean water and avoid strongly chlorinated water.

  • Do not mix directly with concentrated fertilizers, disinfectants, oxidizing agents or unverified pesticides.

  • If chemical seed treatment is required, confirm compatibility before combined application.

  • Apply during cooler parts of the day and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

  • Maintain normal crop fertilization unless a locally validated nutrient-management program recommends an adjustment.

  • Conduct a small compatibility test before tank mixing with other agricultural inputs.

Technical note

The rates above maintain approximately equivalent viable-cell delivery between the 108 and 109 CFU/g formulations. Final recommendations should be confirmed according to the strain, carrier, formulation stability, crop and local registration requirements.
